These strong PP40 permeable pavers, also known as gravel grids or grass grids, are used where a permeable ground stabilisation solution is required for applications including driveways, car parks, overflow parking, car parking bays, cycle paths, pedestrian footpaths and wheelchair access paths. PP40 gravel grids are our flagship pavers in our permeable paving range due to their strength and easy-to-install nature, providing over 350 tonnes of support per square metre, making it a favourite whether you are installing a commercial car park or domestic driveway.
PP40 permeable pavers can be filled with either gravel or grass to provide a free-draining hardwearing surface that is SuDs (Sustainable Urban Drainage System) source control compliant. Moreover, the plastic grids have a unique open cell structure that is ideal for allowing grass roots to spread from cell to cell, allowing a vertical and horizontal passage of water, drainage and aflow of nutrients. These benefits provide a great grass growing environment with the ground stabilisation qualities adding strength and integrity to the grass structure. This structure also ensures that angular gravel is interlocked firmly within the cells so that it is retained in situ and won't move or be lost during vehicle movements. Please note that rounded pea shingle is not advised for this reason, but sharp, angular gravel is recommended instead, such as our golden flint gravel, red granite chippings, white chippings or cream Cotswold chippings.
